MISSOURI UNION PRESBYTERY                     E

COMMITTEE ON MINISTRY REPORT

August 28, 2008

ACTION ITEMS:

1.         Motion that the Presbytery receive Honorably Retired T.A. “Ted” Jaeger, Jr. of Transylvania Presbytery as a member.

RATIONALE:  The Rev. Ted Jaeger is a resident of the Presbyterian Manor in Fulton and having to appear before MUP for examination is impossible.  COM appointed Bob Fenlon, Bill Young, and Randall Cone to meet with him to “examine him for fitness”.  The main reason for transfer is so that he might receive pastoral care where he is now residing.  Rev. Jaeger is in his nineties.

2.         Motion that Jim Cruickshank be re-commissioned to Old

Auxvasse, Nine Mile PC for three years, effective 8/28/08.

RATIONALE:  Jim received a favorable review from the church and following the Book of Order required evaluation with COM, a three-year commission was recommended at the 5/20/08 meeting of COM.

3.         Motion that the pastoral relationship between the Rev. Pat

Gruber and FPC, Mexico be dissolved effective 9/1/08 and that he

be placed on the At-Large Roll of Presbytery, if the way be clear

and the congregational vote on 8/31/08 concurs with his request

             for dissolution.

RATIONALE:  Due to his marriage and new family situation, Pat needs to move to the St. Louis area and thus needs to resign from his position as Associate Pastor at FPC, Mexico.  While he seeks a call and/or other employment, his membership needs to remain in MUP.

 FOR INFORMATION:

1.       Responsibility for coordinating education events at MUP meetings has been removed from COM and is now the MUP Council’s responsibility, as they are the coordinating body for presbytery meetings and docket.
