REPORT TO PRESBYTERY

Commissioned Lay Pastor Committee

The Commissioned Lay Pastor Committee, in its meeting on December 20, 2008, voted unanimously to recommend to the Committee on Ministry and to the Presbytery of Missouri Union that Randy and Dianna Marcum be examined and approved as a Commissioned Lay Pastor to minister together as a team at the Green Ridge Presbyterian Church.

We further recommend that they be authorized to perform all of the functions identified in the Book of Order, G-14.0562 (a-e):

a.             Administer the Lord’s Supper.

b.             Administer the Sacrament of Baptism.

c.             Moderate the Session of the Green Ridge Presbyterian Church.

d.             Perform a service of Christian marriage.

e.             Have a voice and vote in meetings of the presbytery (such vote to be counted as an elder commissioner for purposes of parity).

The committee also, with concurrence from the Committee on Ministry, unanimously recommends, if the way be clear, an Administrative Commission be formed by the Presbytery to Commission Randy and Dianna Marcum at the Green Ridge Presbyterian Church on Saturday March 7, 2009.  This Administrative Commission should include the Moderator or Vice Moderator of Presbytery, a representative from both CLP and COM, and Green Ridge Presbyterian Church with approximately equal numbers of lay and clergy, female and male.
