Bruce Oliver welcomed everyone and opened the meeting with a prayer for the Criminal Justice mission team at 9:05 am.
OLD BUSINESS
Church and Society requested in July a 1-hour educational program at the February, 2009 MUP meeting. Education programs have been set for the February and May meetings.
NOTE: This was approved for the August 27, 2009 meeting at Covenant Point.
TEAM REPORTS
Church and Society: Ruth reported a questionnaire regarding social issue priorities is being planned to be sent to the churches throughout the Presbytery.
Criminal Justice: Bess reported on the successful Missouri School of Religion conference held September 6th in Jefferson City and supported by the Team. Bess offered a reminder for the request for gifts for the Patch program at the November 15th MUP meeting and will include a flier in the MUP packet. The new women’s correctional facility at Chillicothe will include space for the Patch program. Beth and Judy King presented a program to First Jefferson City Presbyterian Women’s group. The Team plans to offer similar programs in 2009 to 5-6 additional churches in the Presbytery. P.J. reported that First Hannibal is supporting the new ‘Supervision Center’ in Hannibal.
Disaster Preparedness and Response: David M. reported PDA financial support has been received for the Silex church damage from the recent Cuivre river flooding. Conversations continue with the Alexandria church for PDA financial support for church damage from the Mississippi river flooding.
Family Enrichment Ministries: P.J. reported mentoring continues with good success and active support from the Big Creek, First Hannibal, and First Palmyra churches.
Hungarian Reformed Church: Bruce reported the Team received a report from the Hungary, Ukraine, and Romania mission trip group at their recent meeting.
Social Justice and Peacemaking: Ruth reported the Team presented a check to the Kittrels for their ‘Aids in Africa’ mission trip expenses. Peacemaker Petru Solca from Romania will be visiting throughout the Presbytery the week of October 13th. The Peacemaking offering was collected at 13 churches.
PRESBYTERY MEETING ‘TIME REQUESTS’
The following mission team requests for time are being made of Council today for the November 15th Presbytery meeting at Trinity. NOTE: All requests were approved.

The Small Church Christian Education team is requesting a large table space display and Criminal Justice is requesting a prayer for the incarcerated and their families at the November 15th MUP meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
2009 mission team budget requests have been received and submitted to the Finance Committee.
There being no further business the meeting closed with prayer by Pastor P.J. Southam at 9:45 am.
