The Reverend Charles T. Guest (HR), and his wife Anna Lee Guest made an unrestricted gift through their will to Missouri Union Presbytery in 2005.  The gift exceeded $24,000.  In Feb. 2006 the Presbytery established the Charles and Anna Guest Fund to provide continuing education opportunities for Ministers, temporary pulpit supplies, and Commissioned Lay Pastors serving congregations with an average worship attendance of 70 or less.

Guest Fund Grants may also be used to help congregations acquire and support the first year of a student’s intern service.  A maximum of $5,000 is available from the Guest Trust each year .

Applications may be sent by e-mail, fax or general post delivery.  E-mail to vicki@mupresbytery.org is preferred.  Please include the following in your application:

1. Name, e-mail address, street address.

2. Amount requested, a complete budget (include all sources of revenue, date the funds will be needed and to whom the check should be written.)

3.  A detailed description of how the grant will be used with an explanation of how it will benefit the ministry of your congregation, and the date your session discussed this application.

Additional or multi-year grants are possible.  Subsequent and multi-year grants are evaluated annually before renewal.  Normally grants will not exceed $500, as support from other sources is expected. For information about this, or other grants, please contact the Presbytery office at 1-800-635-3178.

Individuals receiving grants are asked to report the results of their experience no later than 30 days after the completion.  Written reports should be given to their session and the Guest Trust Committee of Missouri Union Presbytery (c/o vicki@mupresbytery.org)  Failure to report may prevent future grants.
