May 31, 2008

Action: The Board of Trustee’s requests Presbytery of Missouri Union rescind the restrictive use clause in the deed of the Revere Community Church to provide the Church to clear title in order for them to sell the Property.

Rationale: Revere Presbyterian Church merged with 2 other churches in 1935 to form the Revere Community Church. At that time, the Presbytery of Kirksville deeded the real estate, buildings and other improvements to Revere Community Church “for church purposes only or the property reverts back to the Presbytery”. As successor to the Presbytery of Kirksville, the Presbytery of Missouri Union is now the entity which can amend the deed that transferred title to Revere Community Church.

The membership of Revere Coomunity Church has declined to the point that this congregation, after two failed attempts to merge with other churches, has decided to dissolve the Revere Community Church and sell the property. Since it is unlikely the property will be purchased for use as a church, clear title is needed to sell the property.

This Action was approved at May 31, 2008 Presbytery Meeting.
