More Than a Free Breakfast…

On Monday, April 27, Moderator Reyes-Chow visited with students, Westminster faculty and admnistrators, and others from around Missouri Union Presbytery. About 20 attended the informal conversation over breakfast in the Jones Room of the Mueller Leadership (Dining) Hall at Westminster College in Fulton, MO.  Discussion focused around the need for congregations to engage and interact within the context of their community.  Read more »


Report from PW-MUP Annual Mtg

Annual Gathered Meeting of Presbyterian Women in Missouri Union was held at First Presbyterian, Mexico on Thurs, April 23 (9:30 to 3:00).  Over 60 Presbyterian Women gathered with friends from across the Presbytery to attend an exciting day of worship, a celebration of PW history, and the joy of fellowship.  Highlights were a delicious luncheon prepared by women at First-Mexico, a presentation by CLP Judy King and Elder Bess Gamm about the Criminal Justice ministry of Presbytery, the collection of 10 large boxes of CWS Health Kits for the Festival of Sharing and an insoiring sermon by Rev. “Faith to Birth Something New” B.Reyes-Chow

Rev. Bruce Reyes-Chow, Moderator of General Assembly for the Presbyterian Church (USA), visited Presbyterians in Missouri Union Presbytery the weekend of April 24-27. Rev. Storms, Tonadoes and Wildfires Over the past several weeks, severe storms and tornadoes have ravaged parts of the United States, particularly across the South, where several people have been killed and homes damaged or destroyed. In addition, wildfires in Texas, Oklahoma and South Carolina have destroyed or damaged some 170 homes. PDA has been in contact with all areas affected to offer financial support from One Great Hour of Sharing and spiritual support by the presence of NRT members who as experienced disaster responders, can also share their knowledge of response. Rev. Charles Fugate Dies

Rev. Charles Fugate (HR), former pastor of Auxvasse Presbyterian Church and a member of Missouri Union Presbytery, passed away March 31, 2009.  Please keep his family in your prayers. Charles and his wife, Arlene, moved to Spring, TX, in late 2008 to be closer to two sons and 3 grandchildren.   Read more »


Unbinding the Gospel-Synod Discussion 4/25

Martha Grace Reese, author of the bestseller, Unbinding the Gospel, presented a discussion and prayer time on Saturday, April 25 following the Spring meeting of the Synod of Mid-America. Participants from across the Synod heard from Rev. Bill Briley, Pastor of First Christian Church of Lees Summit, about the way prayer and faith sharing have transformed ministry and lives at his church.   Read more »


Legislative Seminar Very Helpful!

A seminar entitled: Legislative Insight: How Government Works was presented by the Church & Society Mission Team on Tuesday, April 21 at First Presbyterian, Jefferson City, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Seminar included excellent presentations by Mission Team members, Debby Howland, Ray Schneider, Brian Long and Rev. Rudy Beard.
