MUP Women’s Retreat Oct 24-26 at Camp

SEE COMMENT BELOW regarding this event just completed annual event.  The 3rd Annual Women’s Retreat  “Seeking Grace-Join the Journey” at Covenant Point Camp, 3492 Camp Keown Rd, Holts Summit, MO 65043.  Weekend begins w/supper Friday and adjourns after worship Sunday. Saturday, Oct 25 Creative project related to the 2008 Hungarian Mission Trip, facilitated by Andrea Cleeton.  See and hear about the Global Exchange from Muriel Stephens, who has just returned from Eastern Europe. If you can only come for one day, make it Saturday! Hear about the 24-year partnership of our Presbytery and the Hungarian Reformed Church.  Learn how God’s grace is evident in the every-day lives of women in Eastern Europe–and Mid-Missouri. Optional activities when you arrive Friday afternoon–take time to relax and enjoy the beauty of Fall.  Walk to the lake, visit with other women, join in a work project or allow time to meditate–you choose!  A time for women to come together for worship, learning, laughter, singing, meditation and maybe gardening or crafts or games! 

Chriss Wheeler is directing the Retreat for a third year.  Muriel Stephens, the Secretary for Presbyterian Women in the Synd of Mid-America  and a resident of the St. Louis area, will report on the August 2008 PW Global Exchange to Eastern Europe.  Recovering from the effects of more than 70 years of communism, the people of the Czech Republic, Hungary and Ukraine are struggling to adjust to new economic, political and societal realities. The people of these countries must deal with rapid changes in education, health care, environmental issues and social equality.

Concludes with Worship at 10:00 a.m. Sunday. Dana Slavin, a candidate for ministry from the Presbytery of Missouri Union, will preach. Rev. Mike Lewton, Camp Director, will administer Communion. Retreat concludes around 11:30 a.m.  Activities from dinner Friday until worship Sunday morning, with plenty of ”BOB” (body on bunk) time included. No lunch will be served Sunday, but participants are welcome to stay as long as they wish Sunday afternoon.
